Dates, names and other conventions
The small things that trip people up: date formats, macrons, statuses, and what a reload proves.
Dates
Pallara displays dates in New Zealand day/month/year order and uses the New Zealand calendar day for anything that says "today" — attendance, dashboard tiles, log filters, AI analytics. A From and To filter set to the same date includes that whole day.

Names keep their macrons everywhere in Pallara — on screen, in generated PDFs, in exports. The one exception is the National Student Index, whose specification forbids them: names are folded on the way to NSI only, and the record keeps the correct spelling. Statuses that mean the same thing
- A programme created as Active shows as Published on its card and detail page. They are the same state.
- A workflow that has been published is still paused until it is activated from its ⋯ menu.
- A grade that has been saved in SpeedGrader is not visible to the learner until it is posted from the Gradebook.
What a reload proves
Most screens update immediately when you save. Reloading the page and seeing the same value is the proof that it was stored, and the guides in this help centre say "reload and confirm" wherever a confirmation message alone is not sufficient.
